Giveaway: One Thousand Gifts

Thursday, December 1

What better way to start off the month of December than by announcing my first Christmas giveaway.  One of my readers will be able to win a copy of Ann Voskamp's book: One Thousand Gifts.  If you’ve been reading my blog recently then you know that I’ve been slowly-but-surely making my way through the book.  Some of you may have already read it, some of you have no idea what I’m talking about, and some of you have heard about it and have been waiting to carve out some time to get it and read it.

Well let me say this, this post applies to all of you. :)

It’s hard for me to accurately describe this book because it full of so much.  The way that it is written speaks to me in so many ways.  I started reading it following our most recent miscarriage (after a handful of people told me it was a MUST read).  It has wrecked me, and has taught me things about thankfulness that I have never considered... things that have changed my way of thinking, and I believe that if ANYONE will apply the truths that Ann whole-heartedly pours out in this book, they will see themselves slowly lifted from whatever pit of despair life has thrown their way.  I still haven’t been able to get past chapter 8 because I keep re-reading it and grabbing something new.
It truly is a "dare to live fully right where you are".
All that to say, I can't wait to give this book away.  Even if you have already read it, I encourage you to enter the giveaway anyway and think of someone to give it to. It makes a wonderful gift, and I even think it would fit perfectly inside of a stocking!

Before you submit entries, make sure you are a follower of my blog by clicking "Follow" or "join this site" over to the right.  So, here's how you can enter... you can do one or all three (maximum of three entries per person)
1. Leave a comment on this post listing one "small every-day" thing you are thankful for.
2. 'Like' my new facebook page for this blog by clicking HERE or by clicking 'like' on the facebook tab over to the right.

3. Tweet about the giveaway by copy/pasting this text in your twitter feed: "Want to win a copy of Ann Voskamp's book: 'One Thousand Gifts'? Click here to enter: http://bit.ly/rMOHhr @christyacutler"
This giveaway will end on Monday, December 5th, at midnight, and the randomly selected winner will be announced on Tuesday, December 6th. *Make sure to enter your email address so I can get a hold of the winner!!

Be blessed.

Today, I am thankful for this small thing: I can enjoy a glass of wine with my husband. I'm also thankful that I can delete comments from blogs when I spell words wrong :).

It's hard to pick just one small thing that I'm thankful for this morning, but I'll go with coffee :-). One of my favorite parts of the day is when i can sit with a cup of coffee in the morning and read (and it's usually your blog), and inhale the quiet moment. Hopefully soon, I can enjoy this book during my favorite time of the day :-)

I am so excited to read this book and actually did buy 2 copies to give away as presents this year, after hearing about how much you and a few of my friends loved it.

I am thankful for snow. It snowed overnight in Denver and when I wake up to see white outside, it just makes me happy inside.

I am thankful for quiet moments--that lately seem rare. In all the chaos im so thankful I can just sit down right where I may be, take a deep breath, and know that everything is okay.

Love you!

I am thankful that when I woke up today, I didn't feel overwhelmingly heavy and sad. Not yet happy, but very thankful that my heart aches less today. He IS faithful...

This comment is not meant for your giveaway but was provoked by it. I own a copy of this book and I have given several away. I really just wanted to say, "Thank You". In reading your blog, I saw mentions of this book and felt the Holy Spirit prompting me to buy it. It has served as confirmation to what God has been writing on my heart in the last few year. It has been a God sent and I am so grateful to you for being His instrument regardless of the seasons you pass through. It truly is a testament to the woman of God "YOU ARE".

I am thankful for the words "Good Morning, Mom" whispered from my sweet almost 4-year-old son every morning. It's a wonderful way to start the day.

I am thankful for the last couple of minutes before I put my son Benjamin to bed, when I pick him up and he lays his head on my shoulder and strokes the back of my arm with his hand. Most of the time this brings tears to my eyes, and as I stand there breathing in his love, it makes me start reflecting on every blessing. god has given me, and repenting for everytime I have taken them for granted or pouted because I wanted more. Amazing how such a little moment is such a heart "examiner" for me.

Thankful. I am thankful that my children make me laugh. Life can be so stressful but stopping and allowing someone as innocent as they are (or not, maybe in my kids case) make you laugh is the highlight of the day.

Thankful for having a sweet baby. Thankful to remember how it felt being pregnant & birthing then nursing our son. Seems so cliche, but overwhelmingly true.

Great giveaway, Christy. I'm pretty sure I'll be buying this book based on your recommendations.

I'm thankful that I get to be at home and wake up to a fuzzy headed little girl, and a precious little boy that comes out every morning and says good morning so cheerfully. I could not ask for more.

Thankful for the not-everyday, but part of life picking up appliances bought on craigslist, an hours drive away, in the rain, in the cold....creating memories AND saving money all at once.
